I am in strong opposition to this petition. Transgender women are not a threat to women in women's spaces any more than another cisgender woman would be. If this petition's goals are written into law, we will have security guards and law enforcement (and typically men) encroaching into women's spaces and forcing anyone suspected of being transgender to prove that they belong in those spaces, leading to the very item this petition purports to prevent.

When considering women's sports and if transgender women belong, I strongly believe that they belong. The fact is that being transgender is strongly stigmatized currently and it is a long and difficult process to start gender-affirming care including hormone replacement therapy. No one will transition and become part of a group that's demonized and stigmatized just to have an edge. This is a life-altering decision that the person takes; the potential benefit is far too little compared to the cost.

This petition is echoing baseless claims and welcoming increased scrutiny of women, both cisgender and transgender. It will harm both cisgender and transgender women greatly.
