Not only is this petition based on bigotry and provably false information, it serves primarily to endanger the lives of trans women. There is no epidemic of trans women participating in women's sports. Young trans women are no longer even allowed to legally access hormone replacement therapy to become eligible for varsity women's sports leagues to earn scholarships. 

 Instead, this petition is designed to put trans women at risk by forcing them to use men's spaces where they will be at significantly greater risk of harassment, assault, and even murder. I can personally attest to this as a trans woman.

Despite wearing oversized men's clothes that hide my breasts and sunglasses to obscure my face, I was harassed by a man in the men's restroom because I am still very visibly feminine. I deliberately used the men's restroom, as a trans woman, because I believed I was presenting masculinely enough that I might unnerve any other women in the women's restroom. I did exactly what this petition wants for every single trans woman, regardless of the way that they are presenting, and I was subjected to sexual harassment because of it. 

This petition will not make any women any safer. It will only endanger the subset of women that bigots believe deserve to be harmed.
