I’m a commercial crabber and I’m strongly against the turtle device going in pots. For one, there is not many turtles that get into your pots at all and the rare times that they do enter we don’t leave a pot for longer than 2 days at a time any way so he’s released right back within 48 hours. Also there is no shortage of turtles they are every where in massive numbers. The device that would let out turtles would definitely let out all of the crabs in the pot. It’s common sense a turtle is way bigger than a crab and if a turtle can escape out of it you know all the crabs will. It’s time to stop making this job harder and harder on us waterman and start helping us for a change.
