Another suggestion on how to make something better by someone with no experience. Someone who doesn’t make a living in this career field. Just an attachment to this industry with an input. I crab, if I catch a turtle most of the time I don’t have crab, so I have to move my trap in order to survive. We’re so restricted now already, and the buyers have us price gouged so bad if it were the gas price, they’d be locked up! Facts. If there is a turtle in my trap, weekend sets, on mondays are typically  the days they’re dead because we aren’t allowed to harvest on Sundays. If it was a trap in the woods and I had rabbit caught, can’t go on Sunday, maybe then “they”/“them” could see. The people making laws and suggestions  just don’t understand that a predator in the wild will come and reak havoc on my bounty in the trap. “Turtle isn’t a desired bait used to catch crab”. Just not enough common sense for them to understand that about a Sunday harvest restriction. They just can’t see that, “it’s under the water” out of sight. Out of mind. Let’s figure another way we can cost the waterman a “little” bit more money. Not fix the real problem. Not to mention make our traps less efficient at catching. Lets take a survey and see how many commercial waterman “want” to kill turtles. Most all I know will pull over their trucks, stop and help them across the road to prevent a motorist from smashing one. See how many continues fishing in areas that caught pots full of turtles and” no crab”. Take a survey on how many have tried the turtle cullers in their tunnels/funnels, and have still caught turtles in areas that turtles are, with the turtle cullers installed in the pots. If I’m not catching crabs and I’m a commercial crabber, I can’t afford to set my traps in areas they are not catching crab. The buyers have my price so low already and the law makers make me spend so much on accessorizing my gear it’s rediculous! That’s my 2cent
