Please stop regulating my right to terminate a pregnancy!

My name is Diana Fakhouri, and I have lived and paid taxes to the Commonwealth of Virginia for three years since graduating from one of its finest institutions, William & Mary. There are many things which I love about this state, but I will not hesitate to move to a place where my civil liberties are respected should VA continue to place restrictions on a woman's right to choose. While I safely use birth control as prescribed by my doctor, I retain the right to terminate an unexpected pregnancy until I am comfortable with starting a family of my own. The decision to terminate pregnancy, utilize birth control, or undergo a prenatal ultrasound screening are personal medical decisions that should be made between me and my doctor. As an employed woman with health insurance and a comfortable salary, I am confident that these restrictions would not impede me from finding a doctor in the United States who is willing to perform a procedure that is legal in this country. However, I am incensed that these medically inappropriate and unnecessarily burdensome regulations would restrict access to essential health care services for those less fortunate than me, and further marginalize young, low-income, uninsured and minority women by decreasing their health care options.
