RGGI is a crucial program that truly promotes (as shown by data!) the very necessary decrease in carbon emissions. Besides the fact that it would break the law, it baffles me that the DEQ would even consider removing us from this initiative in the first place given the vital benefits it has to our environment, to the sustainable development of our state, and thus to the well-being of Virginians. Not to mention the decrease in health costs that come with the decrease in CO2 emissions as a result of participating in the RGGI, and the crucial funding it provides to support Virginians who are victims of climate change-induced severe weather events. If Governor Youngkin truly cares about the well-being of Virginians, and DEQ truly cares about preserving environmental quality, WE MUST STAY IN RGGI!
