General Information
Action Summary The Regulations Establishing Standards for Accrediting Public Schools in Virginia are designed to ensure that an effective educational program is established and maintained in Virginia's public schools. The regulations address student achievement, instructional programs and leadership, facilities and safety, school and community relations, and school accreditation. The regulations require all students, beginning in middle school, to have an Academic and Career Plan. This plan is intended to address a student’s program of study for high school graduation and postsecondary career pathways. The regulations specify that the Academic and Career Plan must be implemented beginning with the 2012-2013 school year. The provisions of HB 96 delay implementation of this provision to the 2013-2014 school year.
