Consultation as practice model for certified nurse midwives

Purpose of legislation
Requires a nurse practitioner licensed by the Boards of Medicine and Nursing in the category of certified nurse midwife to practice in consultation with a licensed physician and in accordance with a practice agreement with such physician. Under current law, certified nurse midwives are required to practice in collaboration with, in addition to consulting with, a licensed physician. The bill also repeals a pilot program authorizing certain certified nurse practitioners to practice with autonomy.
