Virginia PE Continuing Education Proposal

I am not opposed to a continuing education (CE) requirement for PEs, in principle. However, it is my opinion that the proposed amendment could be better written. As it stands now, it is very unclear what, outside of actually taking a course of study, would constitute an acceptable continuing education effort. For example, I serve on two professional society committees. On one, I am a contributing editor for a prominent international technical journal. Secondly, I sit on a committee that writes the PE exam questions for my discipline. Would these be acceptable CE substitutes? How many hours would they count for? What form of proof would be needed to satisfy the Board that these CEs had been accomplished? In essence, it appears to me, that the proposed amendment needs considerably more thought and work. I would refer the amendment writers to the Florida CE requirement legislation. While, perhaps, not ideal, it is reasonable, understandable and has been proven over the years to be a workable solution to PE CE requirement fulfillment. Thank you.
