Continuing education requirenents for engineers registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia

I am totally against the requirement for continuing education to maintain active registration in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  It only serves to allow individuals and providers of unnecessary training to "pray" on the individuals that desire to remain registered.  It appears these "providers" have "friends" in high places (commonly called politicians) that they use to enhance their business.  We (the engineers) have been licenced by examination (an expense), work in the practice every day, pay our various fees to remain active (an expense) and are now required to make additional outlays (another expense) for comtinuing education which in no way improves the quality of the engineer.  This requirement is just another "meal ticket" that must be "punched" to maintain registration.  A "good" engineer is a "good" engineer.  To think that 6 or 8 hours of continuing education will improve the quality of an engineer in Virginia is ludicrous.

Of course, I'm sure this will fall on "deaf ears" because the die is "cast" and I am but one individual.  What's next?  I'm sure the folks in the "ivory tower" in Richmond are at work as we speak trying to dream up the next regulation they can hand down on us and enforce.
