Landlord Support for Source of Income Non-Discrimination Guidance

On behalf of the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH), I am writing in support of the Guidance Document regarding housing discrimination based on source of funds.  APAH is a developer and owner of 1,726 rental apartments in Arlington County, Virginia--another 249 are leasing up now and another 630 are in our Virginia pipeline.

As a landlord, APAH does not discriminate based on source of income--and can attest that this policy has not caused our organization undue administrative burden.  Our experience specifically with housing vouchers is that they are among the most reliable sources and help ensure that tenants in greatest need have the opportunity to access quality housing.  The Guidance preserves the legislative intent of the General Assembly, clarifies the Virginia Fair Housing Law for housing providers, and will help ensure fair access for all Virginians.
