I am opposed to the CE for Licensing. CE comes through practice.

I am opposed to the CE requirement for Licensing.  CE comes through practice.  Time and money for small firms is a burden as it takes time away from projects where you do learn and the high cost by those selling CE services is unjust.  Whereas the AIA makes it manditory as a requirement for belonging to the AIA, it is a less onerous process and a positive way to learn about new opportunities, products and methods.  Regulation requires more buracracy and staffing and more opportunities for administrative types to make mistakes.  It places them in a policing role. Focus should be on stopping non-registered architects from breaking the law.  Placing this burden on architects could result in more practicing without a license.
