Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Strongly OPPOSE VDOE Transgender Policy

The VDOE Transgender Policy not only infringes on Parental Rights, it also further promotes Relativism which has no place in our public, taxpayer funded education system.  Additionally, the purpose of our education system is to teach the three "R's" (reading, 'riting, and 'rithmetic), while including Critical Thinking in teaching methods.  The current curriculum is erroneously teaching our children WHAT to think, rather than HOW to think.  Sexual orientation has become a marketing tool of the political left and has no place in the academia arena.  No wonder the public school systems are producing confused, unconfident, students who cannot write a grammatically correct sentence, or cite their multiplication tables.  If our children cannot be allowed to logically conclude absolute truths, such as male and female, then all aspects of education such as math, history, and science also become irrelevant, not to mention the act of teaching also becomes ultimately pointless.  Therefore, one must ask: "Does this proposed VDOE Transgender Policy lead to a loss of public school teaching jobs while parents abandon the public "education" system, embracing private education or homeschooling, as they realize their hard-earned money is being thrown away on a politically motivated and abusive agenda?"
