Continuing Education is a Daily Requirement

I would like to begin by saying that I feel this new requirement will be a waste of time for Land Surveyors. Anyone in the profession running a business will tell that each day is a learning experience. Every survey performed is different, requiring analysis of data utilizing basic principals and practices of surveying. County and municipal requirements are constantly changing, not to mention the fact that each separate entity has it's own set of rules and regulations which we are supposed to keep up with.

I have taken seminars in the past as I was preparing for the exam and found that they only "skim" over a variety of topics, never really focusing on anything in depth. They are typically more of overviews of topics rather than a actual learning course. The time and money spent on these for the future will really be fruitless for me.

I know of other surveyors licensed in states requiring CE. I've seen them cramming some online course over a weekend or taking some course on tape for two weeks, just to be able to show the required credits. These professionals already know it's a waste of time and effort.
