While the requirement for continuing education has some merit for junior (recently registered) engineers, some consideration must be given to senior engineers who have practiced in their field for many years and have attended many continuing education courses.  A total of 20 years or more in active practice should exempt a registered engineer from having to meet any continued education requirement in order to practice.
