Self Directed Continuing Education.

Many engineers receive literature/magazines from organizations for which they are members.  Review of the articles within these magazines are very educational and should be considered as continuing education.  There are many great articles on engineering matters that are available in stores and on the internet.  Review of design guides, construction standards, codes, manufacturers installation and use guides and similar documents provide knowledge which is useful in the practice of engineering.  I recommend that at least 50% of the continuing education through self-directed reading/studying of documents similar to those mentioned above be allowed as fulfillment of the continuing education requirements.
