I am the current President of the National Capital Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. We have monthly meetings where speakers give lectures on a variety of technical (and sometines non-technical) subjects.  The National Capital Section technical committees also sponsor speakers at luncheons, dinners and field trips. Under the proposed regulations, I believe that the ASC - NCS events qualify as continuing education hours..
