I obtained a license in Virginia since it was the only state that would administer the EIT (now FE) exam at West Point in 1982, since USMA was not ABET-accredited at that time (USMA has been since 1985).  Then when I desired to get PE certification when I was leaving the military I took the exam in Virginia in 1993.  After I passed the test, I moved to Ohio and began work in what is now Philips Healthcare.  However, since a P.E. is not required for my position, I never had a reason to seek reciprocity in Ohio. 

The only thing the the C.E. requirement is going to do for me is to give me the reason to seek reciprocity in Ohio and forego paying Virginia the money to renew my license there.  I have worked for that past 15 years in Engineering and don't see how the C.E. is going to help me as a certified professional, as I 'live' Engineering every day of my professional life.  The CT scanners that we develop are as complex as many systems that you may come across.

If Virginia doesn't want the money then so be it.  It will be Ohio's gain.
