The AIA has had similar for some time & it does not really educate as may be the intent. Members simply sign up for lunch sessions with vendors or read magazine articles that they would read anyway simply to garner the points. This is one reason I am no longer a member of the AIA.

If the state is really concerned about the professionals being up-to-date it should be for life safety issues that relate to their profession. However, this is still inappropriate because all professionals may not practice in a manner that justifies this additional education. Please do not mandate a process that treats all of us the same and brings us to the least common denominator.

The day-to-day practice keeps me well educated. If I do not stay current, I am no longer cempetetive and this is a very competetive business indeed!
