Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

I do NOT support!

If you believe for one minute that any sane father or mother would be okay with their daughter(s) changing in a locker room/restroom with a biological male, you're out of your mind. If these laws go into effect, the only thing a young straight man has to do is claim he "feels" like a girl and then nothing can be done about his entry into any women's locker room he pleases.

This is going to end up putting our young women at risk of (at the least) unwanted sexual attention and no right or grounds to complain about it at all.

I ask you, "HOW IS THIS EMPOWERING FOR WOMEN?!"

As a society, we tell all women (and rightly so) that if they are being taken advantage of, they need to stand up for themselves and reach out for help.

How would this legislation help that? It wouldn't! There is absolutely nothing stopping a man who has ill intent from simply walking into a women's locker room and taking advantage of the situation.

As a future father, I VEHEMENTLY oppose this legislation through and through.

That's just how I feel about page 18. The rest of the legislation takes away a parent's ability to parent due to the fact that the state is allowed to hide all manner of conversations regarding sexual orientation from ever reaching the ear of the parent. Absolutely ridiculous.
