SUPPORT Continued Licensure of Landscape Architects

I am writing to express my support for the continued licensure of Landscape Architecture in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As both a Virginia resident and a recent graduate in pursuit of licensure, I understand the significant role that licensure of Landscape architects plays in protecting the health, safety, and welfare of Virginia Residents. I currently work as a Landscape Designer for a small Landscape Architecture firm in Norfolk, Virginia. Our firms work covers a broad range of fields including Brownfields Development, community revitalization, and resiliency. Due to the comprehensive nature of Landscape Architecture education and practice, Landscape Architects are uniquely well suited to serve as project leads on highly complex and multi-faceted projects. Without licensure, Landscape Architects would be unable to serve as project leads on a majority of projects and would in turn be at an unfair disadvantage in the marketplace and lose their equal footing with related licensed design professions.

I strongly request that you continue to license Landscape Architects in the Commonwealth of Virginia in order to ensure that professionals serving the general public are capable and qualified by virtue of their education, experience, and examination.

Thank you,

Amanda Stamnitz
