Landscape Architecture- Strong Support for Continued Licensing

I am writing to express my strong support for the continued licensing of Landscape Architects in Virginia.  Landscape Architects play significant roles on the professional teams that support the building, development and construction industries in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  They provide critical oversight for the public health, safety and welfare in their professional responsibilities for preparing plans for the exterior spaces in which we live and work.  In particular, the interaction of landscape architects as part of a professional team including architects and engineers is ever more important as construction projects become more complex.  Licensing is the most appropriate way to ensure that landscape architects meet professional standards on par with the other professionals they work with.  Also, as a currently licensed landscape architect in the Commonwealth of Virginia, I am involved in multiple projects in various stages of design and construction that are constructed hardscapes and landscapes on building rooftops, involving extensive permitting, building code application and coordination with the other licensed design professionals.   In a number of Virginia jurisdictions, these plans are required to be signed and sealed by a licensed landscape architect.  Please continue the licensing of landscape architects in Virginia!
