STRONG SUPPORT of Continued Licensure of Landscape Architects in Virginia

I am writing in support of continued licensure of Landscape Architects in Virginia.  My name is David Frank and I serve as the Winchester Office Director of Pennoni Associates Inc.  Pennoni is a multidisciplinary engineering, science, and design consulting firm headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Our over 1,200 person firm provides services throughout the east coast and, specifically, in Virginia.

As a licensed Virginia Landscape Architect continuously provide professional services including, but not limited to, Site Plans, Roadway Design, Stormwater Management design, Sediment and Erosion Control design, site grading, construction estimating, bond reductions and DEQ notice of Terminations.  Performing these services require a seal by a licensed professional by the local, State and Federal agencies.  The work I perform as a licensed professional is consistent with similar services performed by licensed Engineers, Architects and Class B Surveyors.   Without this licensure I would lose my ability to perform the services our firm provides for public capital improvement, private development, and municipal projects.  I cannot stress enough how integral professional Landscape Architects are in ensuring the protection of Public Health, Safety and Welfare in the State of Virginia.  Additionally, the loss of licensure would unfairly hinder or even eliminate the ability for individuals as myself to lead multidisciplinary teams on local, state, or federal projects.
