SUPPORT Continued Regulation of Interior Design in VA

Deregulating interior designers will require interior designers to obtain architect's stamps for non-structural permit drawings that they currently can stamp on their own. It creates a dependency where there does not need to be one.

There will also be a gap between the time when any potential legislature changes may happen and when the government, private clients, and private firms "catch up" with revising their proposal requirements and job descriptions, causing confusion and lapses in eligibility until requirements are revised.

It also gives the public peace of mind, knowing the state is backing interior designers and should an issue arise, their license can be revoked. Deregulating the industry removes that certainty and creates confusion between who is credible and who is not.
