SUPPORT continued regulation of wetlands professionals

Virginia should not eliminate regulation of wetlands professionals.  Defining the boundaries of wetlands requires advanced training and experience in soil science, botany, and hydrology.   This is not the realm of engineers or architects; it requires trained field scientists.  Practitioners need to demonstrate that they are qualified to do the work properly.  Improper wetlands delineation can result in destruction of sensitive habitats and species and problems with buildings and other infrastructure.  Therefore, this field of practice should continue to be regulated by Virginia.
