Backflow Prevention Device Worker

Backflow Prevention Device Worker certification is no different than a Master or Journeyman in Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, etc. To have non-certified personnel test backflow devices and certify they are in proper working order is asking for potable water cross contamination. The health and safety of our citizens depend on qualified professionals that have trained and know the ends and outs of the trade to help ensure safe drinking water.

Eliminating this certification not only poses health risks it also poses extra cost to customers because of someone not knowing why a backflow device is failing a test. Instead of simply clearing a check valve because of a little debris, it could mean the replacement of the entire assembly. My opinion is to keep this certification.
