Strong support of licensure for Landscape Architects

Landscape Architects should remain licensed as the work they perform impacts the health, safety and welfare of the public. Landscape Architects must obtain a degree from an accredited school and pass the LARE exam to prove they are capable of performing technical work. Site design, grading, stormwater, and erosion control are all critical items to site development projects and being a licensed individual protects everyone involved in the project. A licensed profession is held to a higher technical and ethical standard. It also provides options for the public when selecting a designer. If they are not licensed then a monopoly will be created that will increase site development costs for everyone.  Having overlap between design professions keeps the "playing field" level and competitive.
