In favor of Continuing Education; Will only help

I agree with the comments of several of my collegues that Contiuing Ed. is necessary.  A lot of the negative comments I have seen seem to play on fears that seem unwarranted.  I think Continuing Ed. in the end not only makes the professions stronger but also brings up the quality of the Continuing Educational seminars. In other states, such as Pennsylvania and WV, the quality of the courses offered at their respective state conferences increased when the requirement was put in place and it increased the attendance those conferences as well. I also agree with the comments that there should be a close cooperation between the state societies and the Board to provide the pre-approved courses. The policy will have no benefit if honest effort to comply with the requirement is wasted because courses are rejected upon submission for credit. I also think there should be credit or exemption given to those who are taking college courses directly related to their field.
