Is the State Trying to Discourage PE's?

With the new NSPE requireing a masters degree in engineering in order to sit for the PE starting in 2015, this is just another discouragement for young persons entering traditional engineering. Why would most persons want to expend the efforts required to obtain a PE license? The cost/benefit ratio is not there for most engineering design positions within the A/E community. This seems like a crazy proposal since most, if not all of the required courses will be inane. This will also hurt small businesses with their razor thin profit margins unless the employees are required to foot the cost. I really wonder were the Richmond polititians get these crazy ideas. With the dropoff of traditional engineering degrees in this country, this can only help make things worse. We need to encourage young people to enter the engineering and science proffessions. Something seems terribly wrong here. I agree with 90% of the comments on this board, so please reconsider this proposal.
