CEUs-A Waste of Money

I have licenses in several states, 2 of which require CEUs or PDHs.  The NSPE is pushing for this.  I see no benefit.  If you are working in a field, you must stay abreast of the new technolgy and processes.  Immediately after the NSPE pushed for this and states instituted CEUs, I was swamped with every Tom, Dick, and Harry company offering courses for CEUs - they just came out of the woodwork with a majority of the courses in non-technical areas.  I think it has been pushed by people / companies wanting to make money and offer themselves the financial benefit.  If a PE is not doing their job properly, then the Board takes action - additonal CEUs is not going to make it better.  Bottom line - it is a waste of time and money and only benefits those offering the courses.
