Issues with Continuing Ed

While I understand the desire to protect the public through Continuing Education, the CE classes that I have taken have often been worthless. Although not required to do CE, I try to find classes that will increase my knowledge and be part of my life-long learning. Most classes fall far short of this and exist primarily only to provide CE credits for AIA members. When CE was instituted by the AIA  I had great hopes that the classes would improve by creating a forced audience. Instead, the number of classes has increased, but the quality has remained poor. Many classes have only a marginal relationship to HSW. I believe this will continue with the state mandated classes, so that many architects will not be Being a practicing architect provides me much more CE than these classes - perhaps you should exempt those of us who practice day-to-day from CE.
