As a physician, I support setting the strongest standard to cut emissions from power plants through participation in a carbon market.  A five year study of public health benefits among states in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative found that the reduction in air pollution resulted in the avoidance of hundreds of heart attacks and premature death and thousands of asthma exaccerbations.  I firmly believe that the new regulations will improve the health of Virginians for generations to come.
