Dry needle technique is usinga needle puncture through skin to work at certain layer of tissue, this IS acupuncture, point can be called Ashi point or trigger point or special point. Physical therapist is not licensed to use any invasive procedure. Therefore PT could be trained but absolutely should not allowed unless get an acupuncture license. If MD and chiropractor have to get licensed to practice acupuncture why PT doesn't?!
