Last week, the VA Department of Health began seeking public comments over Governor Terry McAuliffe’s proposed amendments that seek to significantly water down the health and safety standards for abortion centers. For over a year, the Virginia Board of Health has been going through the process of amending the hard fought for abortion center health and safety standards at the request of the $1 billion abortion industry. These amendments proposed by the abortion industry should be rejected since they reduce the health and safety requirements previously approved. Abortion centers should only be conducting abortions when the life of the mother is endangered by the pregnancy. Abortion facilities should have external validation that the procedure completed was actually an abortion and not a biopsy. Clinics that do chemical abortions should be held to the same medical and safety standards as they still can have medical problems and complications. Please reject these Planned Parenthood pushed amendments. The health and life of women and children would be more endangered if these amendments are adopted.
