It is important that students have hands-on experience in any field, including the practice of veterinary medicine. However, the animal's owner absolutely must be informed in advance when a vet delegates a task to a student if that task ordinarily requires a license to perform. I trust my vet implicitly but I still want to be apprised of any action taken on my pet by someone who is not my vet, regardless of who he/she is.
