I have had several patients report that they thought they had had an acupuncture treatment when getting dry needling by a physical therapist.  One patient was afraid to try acupuncture after the experience because it hurt him.  My concern with dry needling is that patients do not understand that it is not the same as an acupuncture treatment and has nothing to do with Traditional Chinese Medicine.
