Is  When the patient needs to get Epidural injection or any kind of steroid injection, only the physician can perform the procedure. Can a nurse do the same work? The answer is No! Even the nurse has been watching and assistanting the whole process thousands times. The reason is simple. The medical education background decided that the nurse is not qualify. Even the nurse knows how to do it every step ,but only the physician knows how and why to do it. To know why and what is behind the procedure of injection required many years of study. Dry needling by PT ,is just like letting nurse do the Epidural injection. Dry needling is Acupuncture. Acupuncturist need to finish 54 mandatory courses , 6 election courses and about  one thousand clinical practice hours , of western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. The dry needling spots are so called Arshi points.There are many principles and limitations to use Arshi points during the daily acupuncture procedure performance. Many years of study in TCM School(Traditional Chinese Medical School), Acupuncturist has the knowledge of how and why to provide acupuncture. PT is not qualified to practice. It will ruin the reputation of acupuncture treatment. Calling acupuncture the "Dry needling " is clever cheating.  By allowing any person who has no TCM background to practice needling on the patients is dangerous and other will put patients at very risky situation. Acupuncture treatment is effective and safe treatment, it is dangerous to let not fully trained people to ruin it.
