IN FAVOR

Against the large body of commentary from those opposed, I wish to register my opinion in favor of the proposed regulatory action. Guns carried by private citizens inside buildings where strangers mix under circumstances of pressure, frustration and anomie -- I speak, of course, of the Department of Motor Vehicles -- constitute a preventable hazard to public safety. The odds that some private citizen will accidentally leave his/her weapon in the restroom, to be found by a child or an angry person, compare unfavorably to the odds that someone with a concealed carry permit should prevent (yet another) active shooter tragedy. I support the Governor's common-sense, common-courtesy, and common-civility proposal.
