Unlawful Executive Order

The proposed legislation to ban lawful citizens from protecting their families in state buildings by the lawful carrying of firearms would not only have zero impact in stopping criminal or terrorist actions such as those in the City of San Bernardino, California, it would actually encourage it by creating a "gun-free zone."

It is no accident that the majority of mass murders occur in "gun-free zones."  Criminals and terrorists prefer "gun-free zones" as they create a target rich environment.  These vicious attacks only cease when a "good-guy" with a gun shows up to confront the attacker. Until that "good-guy" with a gun shows up, the terrorists are free to inflict mass carnage at their will, with nothing to stop them.

Furthermore, the Virginia Constitution does not grant the authority of executive legislation to the Governor of Virginia.  This unlawful executive order is a severe over-reach of power.  I find it particularly disturbing that after a terrorist attack in California, the reaction would be to disarm law-abiding citizens.  In what universe does this make sense?  I'm fairly certain that any criminals or terrorists intent on mass carnage will disregard this executive order.  Even more disturbing is that this executive order to disarm law abiding citizens was created by executives whose families are protected by a small army of armed officers.  If the Governor wanted to appear non-hypocritical, he should disarm his own family's security detail before ordering Virginia citizens to disarm.

Please tell the Governor and his confidant Michael Bloomberg that we will not stand for unlawful executive orders or regulations.
