I am not in favor of being able to skip making an affirmative statement regarding citizenship, mental impairment and felony record and substituting a blanket signature of affirmation. Those questions are clear and they are important.  Eliminating that requirement could encourage advocacy groups to promote skipping the information. It shouldn't take any longer for a person to read the form and check each of those questions that it would to read the form and sign the bottom. We don't want to encourage ineligible applicants to register. The ballot is sacred, and we must ensure the integrity of our voting system.
