Status Quo on Voter Registration

It is very important for the Commonwealth's Executive Branch to enforce and comply with legislation passed by the Legislature and signed by a Governor, to include all previous governors, unless the Legislature submits a new bill or amendment for gubenatorial consideration, and it subsequently changes existing law. This proposed "end-around" for voting by the Election Board is not only illegal, but it is also an immoral affront to lawful Citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

For good reasons, all persons desiring to vote need to show proof not only of Virginia residency but also of citizenship within the United States. This requirement prevents "fraud" within our fair, open and transparent government.

Convicted felons are rightfully barred from casting any ballot until after their sentence has been served and their voting rights restored. There is a functional and working protocol in existence for sentence-served convicted felons to follow in making application for voting rights restoration. It is not an impossible pathway, but it does require the applicant to show sincerity, honesty, and change of behavior before being allowed to vote on representation, matters of finance, and matters of law. As a "Commonwealth", we lawful citizens want our fellow voters to be "operating on the level of the common good"

Mentally impaired persons also have a protocol to follow in being able to vote. This protocol and granting of voting rights prevents that voter from being unduly influenced by persons seeking to have a vote cast that does not necessarily serve the impaired vote caster's interest, but most definitely serves interests of the influencer, thus giving the influencer more than one (1) vote.

The current law is not broken; it is not inept. Rather, it protects the "common good" amongst citizens within our Commonwealth.

In summary, the Election Board has no business in creating changes to voter registration; it is outside their "swimlane". The proper swimlane for voter registration belongs to our Legislative Body and bills they may choose to forward to the Governor.
