Re: Controversial and Sensitive Material

The effect of limiting access to materials would be ultimately damaging to efforts to train up a thinking populace as well. Without exposure to so-called controversial or sensitive materials and lively dialog, how will our youth learn how to interpret or think through issues and come to a judgment?

This action also seems to diminish the rights of parents. As a parent, I reviewed what my child read--and then used the issues to guide my child's thinking about our family beliefs and expectations as she dealt with the difficult themes presented in her reading--does government now think parents are not able (or willing) to do the same?
