I support the Board of Education's amendment to the regulation.

I support the Board of Education's amendment to the regulation.  Parents should be notified ahead of time of any plans to read/discuss/review sexually-explicit materials in the classroom.  This is important because children do not know how or when to discuss with their parents confusing or disturbing materials they encounter in school.  If the parents know ahead of time, they can prepare the child or ask the child after the presentation what they felt about the material.  Children need to feel like they can go to their parents with any school concerns.  Parents need to know how to help their children navigate these difficult issues.  Truly, parents know their children better than anyone and can be a great assistance to their children if given the opportunity.
