I strongly support the Arc of Northern Virginia's comments. I strongly oppose the proposed 56-hour cap on DD waiver CDPA care and replacement of service facilitators with the brokerage model.
These changes could potentially devastate our family. Even with services, every day can present unique challenges that can mentally and financially put us in survival mode. Removing or lowering these services will also impact our ability to work as it could with many families. In our case, my husband and I work to help those with special needs in fields that already have shortages of employees. Regardless of the job though, the potentially devastating impact of these changes on individual families could impact others in unforeseen ways. Though special needs families often feel isolated from the rest of the community, we are still a major part of the communities we live in and are contributors to our communities.
