The VDOE-OCCHS offers the following comments on the updated medication administration training curriculum guidance document 90-62. Suggested language to add is underlined in red font and suggested language to remove is stricken in red font.

Medication Administration Training for Youth (MATY) 

1. Site of medication administration column should include the acronym for Department of Education since it is the first time used. 

2. Site of medication administration column should spell out VCPE since it is the first instance of it being used.  

3. Proposed edits are below: 

• • Site of medication administration: Private children’s residential facilities or schools for students with disabilities. Licensed by DBHDS or DSS and/or Department of Education (DOE).  

Private schools accredited pursuant to §22.1-19 as administered by VCPE Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE)

Medication Administration Training for Child Care Providers (MAT)  

1. Child care should be replaced with child day program throughout this section to be consistent with the terminology used in §§ 54.1-3408 and 22.1-289.02.  

2. Licensed by DOE should be changed to regulated by DOE or a local government to align with the language in § 54.1-3408. 

3. The number of hours and approval date should be updated to include the modules for diabetes and Solu-Cortef, where were approved in 2023. 

4. Proposed edits are as follows:
