The inspections I read prior to placing a family member in a assisted living facility and memory care and nursing home, are a joke! All they do is check paperwork, see if employees have proper training and certifications. How about actually inspecting the floors of the facilities? The rooms? Talk to patients? Do surprise inspections? Check the food handling? This should be done by the State, regardless of Medicare, Medicaid or Federal funding. Also the actual RN ratio is never what is supposed to be. Can't even get one on the phone!
