As a life-long advocate for parents of children with disabilities, diversity has always been a passion of mine.  Many children with disabilities are born with those disabilities.  As you and I are born with a dominant hand, a specific body-type, hair color etc. so too do they have no choice about attributes assigned at birth.  So too, individuals who happen to have been born into the wrong body, had no choice in that but they do have a choice to remedy that mistake.  I also serve as a Commissioner in Arlington VA, continuing to support vulnerable families and children.  I implore that Virginia in all of its legislation proactively support diversity in all its permutations, including the needs of those who happen to be Transgender.  History will reflect that was the correct trajectory to have traveled.
