This action is in opposition to the scientific consensus of the medical profession. The government has no business policing the femininity or masculinity of individuals and should refrain from establishing such narrow definitions of sex and gender. This will not only affect transgender individuals but will also affect cisgender individuals (mainly women) by creating an environment where anyone can raise “concerns” about the gender and sex of an individual who may either be transgender (which is less than 1% of the population) gender non conforming (doesn’t interact with society in a narrowly defined way), has any form of intersex condition (which ranges from PCOS causing higher testosterone levels to someone who has swyer syndrome (or squire syndrome in men) where chromosomal makeup is that of the opposite sex despite other sex characteristics matching the sex documented at birth). Less than 30% of Virginians view transgender people as a problem worth addressing let alone using taxpayer dollars to discriminate against.
