Background: The existing language referencing acceptable Montessori credentials is inaccurate, vague and opens the door to lead teachers whose training may lack sufficient rigor or oversight. Three Montessori standard bearers (AMI, AMS, and MACTE) carry the national/international recognition that the existing policy intends to endorse. Therefore, we propose the following amendment:

Existing Language: A teaching diploma from an internationally or nationally recognized Montessori organization

Recommended Replacement: A Montessori credential issued by AMS or AMI or a MACTE accredited institution
