Oppose Petition - worthless waste of time

Menhaden fishing in the Bay is already at an all-time low due to overly conservative regulatory restrictions.  It is disappointing to see how recreational fishermen try to blame menhaden fishing for the status of the striped bass stock.  When the striped bass moratorium was put into effect in the 1980s, there were 150K metric tons of menhaden caught in the Bay each year, however dispite that level of menhaden fishing, the striped bass stock made a quick and complete recovery because the fishing mortality on that species was stopped.  It had nothing to do with striped bass food source then, and it still has nothing to do with their food source today.  With today's 'Bay Cap' of only 51K metric tons of menhaden allowed to catch annually, there is more than enough menhaden to provide a forage base for striped bass.  This petition appears to be something to just waste peoples' time.
